What a Commercial Kitchen Fire Suppression Inspection Covers

During an inspection we check that every part of your suppression system is in place, undamaged, and ready to perform. We test the release mechanism, verify nozzle alignment, check fusible links and cables, and confirm the gas valve shut-off works correctly. We provide inspection and service for existing Ansul fire suppression systems, Amerex, Range Guard, Buckeye, Pyro-Chem, ProTex II, and other commercial kitchen fire suppression systems. Note that hood cleaning is a separate service — we do not perform it, but we can connect you with independent hood-cleaning professionals.

  • Nozzles — clear, aligned, and aimed at the protected appliances
  • Fusible links and link lines — intact and within service life
  • Control cables — properly routed and functioning
  • Agent cylinder — charged and in date
  • Gas valve shut-off — tested for proper operation
  • Piping and fittings — secure and undamaged
  • System signage and manual pull station

UL 300 and older kitchen suppression systems

If an inspection identifies an older, unknown, discontinued, or pre-UL-300 system, we can help evaluate whether the existing equipment can continue to be serviced or whether an upgrade should be considered. Learn more about our UL 300 fire suppression upgrade service.

Certification and documentation

After a successful inspection we provide certification and a tagged, documented record for your system. This documentation helps you demonstrate compliance during fire department or insurance reviews. Wondering about the timing? Read our guide on how often a restaurant hood fire suppression system needs inspection.

When to schedule restaurant hood fire suppression service

Contact us when your kitchen suppression inspection is coming due, your restaurant receives a fire department correction notice, your cooking equipment layout changes, or an existing system needs a maintenance review. We can evaluate the installed equipment, explain any deficiencies, and schedule the appropriate inspection or service. If the system has discharged or needs urgent corrective work, see our commercial kitchen suppression repair and emergency service.

If we find a problem

If the inspection reveals a deficiency — a worn fusible link, a damaged cable, a low cylinder, or a misaligned nozzle — we will explain what is needed and can often perform the repair during the same visit. See our repairs and modifications service.
